Luke Rockhold off Strikeforce event with wrist injury
Strikeforce: Champions just took another hit. The Jan. 12 event, which is rumored to be Strikeforce's last, lost Luke Rockhold to injury. The middleweight champion has a wrist injury and had to withdraw from his bout with Lorenz Larkin.
Larkin was apparently not happy about Rockhold's decision to withdraw, because he sent several tweets ripping Rockhold.
The two were supposed to meet at the Nov. 3 Strikeforce event. Rockhold withdrew from that bout with a wrist injury, and the event was scrapped.
The Rockhold injury is another blow to Strikeforce. They canceled event in September and November, leading to rumors about their demise. Having a event called "Champions" without many champions doesn't inspire much confident about their future.

Italian court overturns Google executives' privacy convictions
A Milan appeals court Friday overturned the conviction of three Google managers for violating Italy's privacy laws by allowing the posting of a video showing the bullying of a handicapped student.
The executives—Senior Vice President David Drummond, Chief Legal Officer Peter Fleischer and Chief Privacy Counsel George Reyes—were handed suspended six-month prison sentences by a Milan assize court in February 2010 for allowing the disturbing video to be posted on the Google Video website.
The appeals court upheld the lower court's decision to acquit the three Google executives of defamation, confirming the assize court's acquittal on that charge of Arvind Desikan, the former head of Google Video Europe.
The 2010 verdict set a legal precedent in Europe by holding executives of an Internet operator responsible for content posted on the Web by a third party.

Pi-to-Go: a Raspberry Pi, screen and keyboard stuffed into a 3D-printed case
Gaming consoles are the usual candidates to go under a screwdriver for miniaturization into portable packages, but Nathan Morgan set out to do something different: transform the hacker-friendly Raspberry Pi into a mobile rig. Thus, the Pi-to-Go was born. The portable's custom 3D-printed case packs a model B revision 1 Raspberry Pi, a 640 x 480 LCD screen and a QWERTY Keyboard with a built-in touchpad. Other internals include a Samsung-made 64GB SSD (with a 1GB swap partition), a rechargeable battery that provides more than 10 hours of juice, a 4GB SD card and support for WiFi and Bluetooth. Morgan's even published build instructions, 3D printer files and a parts list necessary for replicating the box. Not accounting for the 3D-printed case, cobbling together your own Pi-to-Go setup should ring up at just shy of $400. For the entire build breakdown and more images of the rig, hit the bordering source link.

Lawsuit claims fake Android alerts tied to mystery charges
In one of the first lawsuits of its kind targeting an Android app maker and advertiser, a Colorado law firm has filed a class-action complaint against Colorado-based GoLive Mobile and California-based Airpush, alleging the two worked together to bilk Android phone users out of millions of dollars by paying for premium wireless services they never wanted. Attorneys claim GoLive and Airpush purposely tricked customers by creating mobile ads that looked like official Android system notifications.

This week we've got Darren learning a little Spanish through Babbel and Jon, the man of many Canadian phones, testing the Lumia 920 on Rogers' LTE network. And, on a slightly more nostalgic note, Billy delivers a eulogy of sorts for the Epson photo printer that got him through years of graphic design school.

Fruit Fly Nose Says Steer Clear Of Deadly Food; Human Nose Not So Reliable
Although we can usually smell when food goes bad, humans just don't have the fruit fly's direct path from nose to brain that alerts it to food poison. But the detection of this pathway could someday lead to more research that could help us develop better bug repellants.

Rogers Anyplace TV Home Edition lets Canadians steer DVRs, watch live TV from iOS
Mobile apps that blend DVR control and live TV are thriving in the US and elsewhere, so you can imagine the frustration Canadians have felt going without an official option from local telecom giants. A new version of Rogers' Anyplace TV Home Edition app for iOS redresses that problem, if not quite in a radically different way than its US peers. iPad, iPhone and iPod touch owners can now manage DVR recordings on their NextBox hubs, and iPad owners can watch live TV from the same app -- but only from 25 cleared channels, and only when they're at home on a Rogers internet connection. It's not quite a liberation from the TV status quo, then, and Android users will have to wait for their own fix sometime during the last few weeks of 2012. Still, it's hard to object to a free bonus for an existing subscription.
