The couple share three older children together, Lucy, Grace and Jacob.  The news of their split was confirmed by their publicist Stan Rosenfield who did not go into the details behind DeVito and Perlman’s sad decision to part ways.

One of the few Hollywood couples to make their relationship last for so long in the spotlight, the duo starred side by side in the well known 1978 series ‘Taxi’.

Both DeVito and Perlman also own a production company, Jersey Films, that has backed such successful films over the years as ‘Pulp Fiction’ and ‘Erin Brockovich’.

In previous interviews the couple often seemed happy about their rare Hollywood marriage.  Perlman previously called DeVito “sexy”, stating that “You’d really have to work hard at breaking us up at this point.”   DeVito also appeared to feel the same, citing “love” as the reason behind their long lasting marriage.  “I mean, really. You know what? Who knows. The secret to success is to try to never figure that out.”

With both DeVito and Perlman remaining quiet so far about their decision to divorce, speculation has taken over.  One source close to the ‘Sunny in Philadelphia’ actor shared, “like many people, they may have drifted apart over a number of years — finding less and less things in common. … Their children are grown and their youngest is finally out of the nest. … It’s just sad. … They are among the most popular couples in Hollywood.”

Since news of their split has hit the media,  several well known Hollywood figures have spoken out to share their sadness and shock over the split of two terrific entertainers.  More details surrounding DeVito and Perlman’s decision to divorce is sure to emerge shortly.
